How Conservatives Think About Race in America

How Conservatives Think About Race in America With regards to how traditionalists consider race in America, no issue gives a more clear image of their viewpoint than governmental policy regarding minorities in society. Preservationists see the issue uniquely in contrast to dissidents. While dissidents accept governmental policy regarding minorities in society programs make open doors for impeded minorities where they didnt beforehand exist, traditionalists accept these projects really serve to cultivate prejudice by denying chances to other people who are similarly qualified. Further, most governmental policy regarding minorities in society programs address explicit minorities, while estranging others. From a moderate point of view, this makes strain and subverts the perfect of racial balance. Preservationists are substantially less adept to embrace thoughtful perspectives toward minorities based on their race alone. Moderates expect racial fairness exists in the first place and base their arrangements on that presumption. Subsequently, with regards to an issue like loathe wrongdoings, for instance, preservationists can't help contradicting the idea entirely. If some unconscionable wrongdoing is executed upon somebody dependent on that people ethnicity, moderates dont accept the casualty ought to get more equity as a result of it. The possibility of pretty much equity doesnt bode well to preservationists, since they accept there must be one type of equity, applied similarly to everybody. In the event that the equivalent unconscionable wrongdoing is executed upon somebody dependent on that people money related conditions, for instance, that casualty ought to be no less qualified for a similar quest for equity. A wrongdoing is a wrongdoing, paying little mind to the inspirati on driving it.Conservatives accept that governmental policy regarding minorities in society projects and loathe wrongdoing enactment regularly accomplish more damage to the quest for racial congruity than great. These kinds of administrative projects may serve to manufacture disdain outside the specific minority network they serve, which, thus, advances the very disharmony they are intended to circumvent. When consideration is spent on race, preservationists accept nothing but bad can emerge out of it.

Jane Austen – Sense and Sensibility

Class, society, and governmental issues in the home, on a relational level among the characters, are topics of outmost significance in the novel â€Å"Sense and Sensibility† by Jane Austen. In this short paper, we will examine these topics corresponding to the characters, as introduced in the novel. Austen presents these social conditions all through the story, as they were predominant in the general public of her time. Laws encompassing legacy, and property, social manners, and cash matters in a period were sexual orientation restrictions were extremely obvious, connoted an individual's situation in the social scale. The Dashwood ladies, as they show up in â€Å"Sense and sensibility†, out of nowhere end up in a mortifying circumstance, when the mother, Mrs. Dashwood, turns into a widow. They were promptly thrown into a critical circumstance. They were denied of their home and pay when Mr. John Dashwood, turned into the genuine beneficiary of the entirety of Mr. Dashwood's fortune, and chose not to help the Dashwood ladies monetarily. Mrs. Dashwood and her three little girls, Marianne, Elinor and Margaret had no privilege to any of Mr. Dashwood's riches. Having no salary assets, they relied upon John's foundation for help. This was a standard act of the eighteenth century legitimate framework. In Victorian occasions, ladies had, by law, no rights on property. They were viewed as subject to men not exclusively to endure, yet in addition so as to keep their status and decency. Class divisions, economic wellbeing and the battle for its picking up and upkeep are significant topics in the novel. All characters in the story originate from rich, high society foundations. They all have a place with high society and their inclinations and occupations infer this. Sir John Middleton appears to represent the best of high society. Like most of privileged individuals, his occupation and conjugal status characterized his high situation inside his group of friends. His occupation is chasing, his riches is acquired, and his better half's just occupation is to bring up youngsters. Woman Middleton accumulates all the attributes of the perfect high society lady: she remains in the home, weds, and is exceptionally formal and incredibly pleasant, maybe to the point of disturbance. Characters continually appear to vie for money related and social influence. Acquired riches is introduced as the trademark of high economic wellbeing. The Dashwood ladies become denied of both. Therefore they are crashed into difficulty when they need to surrender their home in Norland and every one of its solaces and extravagances and move to littler, less sumptuous premises in Devonshire. By utilizing this migration subject, Jane Austen could infer their plunge from a high social situation to a lower one. It appears to be as though the Dashwoods were â€Å"expelled† from Norland's â€Å"paradise† to Barton Cottage's â€Å"hell† only as a result of their female nature. In Austen's reality, being a lady in a man's reality is a brutal, unfeeling reality. Marriage for status is an issue vital in Sense and Sensibility†. It was viewed as a typical path so as to pick up status. In addition, it was not seen as a decision, however a need. Men would look for status through legacy as well as an affluent marriage. Edward Ferrars is a run of the mill case of this kind of a man in the story. Ladies would pick attractive and instructed men, yet for the most part for rich ones, similar to Lucy Steele. Wealthier ladies were likewise bound to be real for marriage relying upon the endowments they could offer. This put Marianne and Elinor in prompt hindrance to other ladies in the novel (for example the Steele women), and ensuing weight, regarding their authenticity. Their struggle for fruitful relationships for the most part originated from a craving for social settlement and a reclamation of their loss of status. In any case, for Marianne's situation, the principle thought process in marriage is by all accounts love (reasonableness) and not cash (sense), not at all like Elinor. By and by, she is by all accounts nearly pushed in a â€Å"proper† marriage with Colonel Brandon at long last. Men appear to have significantly more space for manoeuvering through suppressive social guidelines than ladies do in the novel. Society seems to permit them more opportunity in marriage and age issues; Colonel Brandon makes a genuine model for this situation. His propelled age didn't in the long run prevent him from getting hitched to Marianne. In Jane Austen's reality as introduced in the novel, social mix and acknowledgment relies upon one's status and his/her reasonable, controlled conduct. There is by all accounts next to no space for uniqueness and abnormality. Elinor, Edward Ferrars and the Middletons make fine instances of reasonable, controlled characters. As Austen portrays: â€Å"Elinor †¦possessed a quality of comprehension, and coolness of judgment†¦She had a superb heart; her manner was tender, and her emotions were solid: yet she realized how to administer them† (p4-5). Edward's appropriateness and the Middletons' custom additionally mean their outrageous degree of political accuracy and adherence to exacting sets of principles so as to be acknowledged in the public arena. Social decorum, formal set of principles, and carefulness to the point of camouflage of one's emotions, are additionally significant highlights in the novel. Want for social headway is additionally apparent. Mrs. John Dashwood, for instance, was quick to introduce herself â€Å"mistress of Norland†. In the battle for money related and social influence, ladies seem to act inside their own circle of activity: the home. Ladies like Mrs. J. Dashwood and Mrs. Ferrars, utilize household and monetary governmental issues to guarantee their authority over circumstances, inside and outside their home condition. Money related and household legislative issues appear to be the main methods ladies can use to have their own particular manner in the realm of the novel. Incidentally enough, despite the fact that the story is set in a male-overwhelmed society, the male characters have little control over ladies like, for instance, Mrs. J. Dashwood and Mrs. Smith and Ferrars. As far as legislative issues in the home condition, it nearly appears as though under the outside of a male-commanded society, what is really going on is past what eyes can see. Austen effectively passes on this thought.

Analysis of Song Lyrics Free Essays

Tune verses: glancing through the window of social texts†¦ If you set aside the effort to tune in to the verses of a tune as opposed to murmuring pointlessly to the infectious tune, you’d notice that a few groups and melodic specialists are educating their crowd regarding present-time topics and issues. In today’s society, melody verses can be utilized adequately to criticize numerous prevailing qualities and mentalities, fairly challenging social issues and the assumptions that stand tall on the phase of popular government. This is the reason melody verses ought to be viewed as one of the most significant social writings of the cutting edge age. We will compose a custom paper test on Examination of Song Lyrics or on the other hand any comparative subject just for you Request Now The tunes Sunday Bloody Sunday by the band U2 and Hurricane by craftsman Bob Dylan prove thoughts of equity and â€Å"justice for all†, urging the audience to investigate their own qualities and mentalities encompassing the issues presented†¦ would the audience respond distinctively on the off chance that it were their life or trustworthiness in question? The melody Sunday Bloody Sunday is one of U2’s most political tunes. It portrays the dread experienced by an eyewitness of the contentions in Northern Ireland, especially the Bloody Sunday episode in Derry where British officers shot and killed unarmed social liberties protestor in 1972, introducing subjects of solidarity, numbness and impassion. In the interim, Bob Dylan’s fight tune Hurricane recounts to the narrative of the detainment of commended fighter Rubin â€Å"Hurricane† Carter, who was dishonestly blamed for a triple homicide in New Jersey, America during the mid 1960s. The melody verse investigates topics of unfairness, bigotry and segregation, illuminating audience members about the debasement that amassed the just American lawful framework at that point. You know, without acknowledging it, the tune you downloaded from iTunes recently could be censuring sure qualities and perspectives in the public eye. The tune Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 underpins the contention that tune verses ought to be viewed as one of the most significant social writings of the advanced age. All through the tune verse, the subject of solidarity blooms and develops, voyaging further into the chasm of society’s battle to stand together. This is seen toward the start of the tune in the main stanza â€Å"‘cause tonight†¦ we can be as one† joined by a military style drumbeat. Here, the opportunity to consolidate as â€Å"one† and have any kind of effect is being offered to the audience, while the selection of instruments is representative to a â€Å"call to arms†. We’re requested to open our eyes and witness the battle and torment that the individuals of Northern Ireland experienced during the mid seventies, when their lives were destroyed by the projectiles of British fighters, â€Å"Broken bottles under children’s feet† and â€Å"Bodies thronw over the impasse street†. The reiteration of â€Å"cause tonight†¦ we can be as one† is fruitful in bringing out a rebellious and cheerful reaction from the audience. I additionally feel that the symbolism made by â€Å"Broken bottles†¦bodies strewn†¦dead end†¦Ã¢â‚¬ plants a seed of dormancy and uselessness in the listener’s mind. The audience is in this way urged to ascend and battle against the sad circumstance depicted in the melody. In the interim, the melody verse Hurricane by Bob Dylan explores the treachery that encompassed Rubin Carter and 1960s America. Being caught in a bad dream of bad form is an exceptionally dull spot to be. Dejection and vulnerability are your lone companions when everybody stays oblivious in regards to reality. Weave Dylan’s Hurricane is a melody verse that investigates this topic of bad form in 1960s New Jersey, where a typical situation was put to a definitive test: the expression of a white man against the expression of a dark man. The tune is educating us regarding Rubin Carter’s bogus homicide conviction, recounted in a fairly story-like design. Bounce Dylan presents the whole American legitimate framework as degenerate and exploitative, showed in the ninth stanza â€Å"All of Rubin’s cards were set apart in advance† and â€Å"The preliminary was a pig-bazaar he never had a chance†. Just as making accentuation through rhyme, these two lines are profoundly emotive, and urge the audience to have sympathy and compassion for Rubin Carter and others that may have been a casualty of debasement. As an audience who lives in the twenty-first century, where instances of lawful deceitfulness and misrepresentation are very uncommon, I wind up identifying with Rubin Carter and detesting the merciless and oblivious disposition controlled by 1960s America and society. All things considered, I am very appreciative that a reasonable and just preliminary is presently accessible to everybody, paying little mind to skin shading. At the point when the melody reaches a conclusion, the picture painted in the listener’s mind is that of foul play and oppression, empowering social change in the region of legitimateness. Regardless, U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday presents the numbness and apathy of society in the midst of incredible need. It appears that a miserable face presented with â€Å"what a tragedy† and prepared with taste of veritable genuineness is our best reaction when the TV screen shows a picture of dead bodies thronw over an impasse street†¦ U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday is a dissent melody that gives a prevailing perusing, examining the oblivious and unconcerned disposition displayed by society towards the Bloody Sunday episode in Northern Ireland. A statement from the content features the 1970s ignorance of this occasion, and different demonstrations of contention over the world, â€Å"And today the millions cry, We eat and drink while tomorrow they die†. Just as utilizing a metaphor, these two lines are powerful in censuring the absence of care that society has for anybody yet themselves, and subsequently, delineates us as presumptuous and self-important. Since we can’t relate to the individuals of Derry who encountered an amazing bad dream obscure to us, everything we can do is store it at the rear of our psyches and sit tight in expectation for the following scene of Home and Away†¦ From my perspective, there is little we can do when occasions, for example, this emerge and shock us. Be that as it may, if society combines in solidarity as opposed to discovering asylum in the mainstream TV station of obliviousness, at that point hearing those cries and taking care of those mouths will turn into a reality. Be that as it may, in the event that we’re going to combine as one, at that point bigotry and separation should be a relic of times gone by, as investigated in Bob Dylan’s Hurricane. Bigotry and separation are two subjects that will not leave the domains of today’s society. Their resistant and enduring mentality must be recognized, yet not supported, as showed in Bob Dylan’s Hurricane. The tune verse is effective in denouncing the negative, prudent and refined convictions controlled by society that every single dark man are hoodlums and killers. These themes must be halted abruptly, and exiled from society†¦ The tune verse edifies the audience of the prejudice and separation that happened in New Jersey at that point, and advises us that we have just made a couple of strides along the way of uniformity from that point forward. Inside Hurricane, the extraordinary imbalance showed by the American police during the sixties is by and large roughly scrutinized, showed in the seventh stanza â€Å"We need to place his arse in mix, We need to nail this triple homicide to him†. Here, the audience gets the feeling that the police (â€Å"we†) are concealing something, and paying little heed to who carried out the wrongdoing, are resolved to see Carter in jail. In light of my ethics, I accept that each individual, male or female, dark or white, ought to be dealt with reasonably and qually. Lamentably, I wasn’t the appointed authority at Rubin Carter’s preliminary. The air made in the content is that of degenerate rebellion and insignificant bias, and the impact is overpowering: I have the desire to stand up and state â€Å"Hey! What you’re doing is wrong†¦! † If just I had the ability to change the way of history†¦ For each one of those out there who accept that tune verses are simply one more type of diversion, reconsider. Should melody verses be viewed as one of the most significant social messages ever? The manner by which they approach certain subjects and issues just as explore society’s qualities, convictions and mentalities is extraordinary †consequently the appropriate response is yes. At the point when you take a gander at U2’s fight melody Sunday Bloody Sunday, a scope of subjects including solidarity, obliviousness and lack of interest are introduced. All through the tune, the picture of weakness is advanced, urging the audience to battle for solidarity. Additionally, the melody censures society for being oblivious until the very end and grief that was overflowing in 1970s Ireland at the hour of the Bloody Sunday occurrence. It features our inability to sympathize, are depicted as wanton and in this manner encouraged to end world clash. In the interim, subjects of foul play, bigotry and separation are investigated in Bob Dylan’s melody Hurricane. The defilement of the American legitimate framework is the theme in this melody, introducing the police, judges and jury as unscrupulous and untrustworthy. The audience is situated to react in a thoughtful manner towards Rubin Carter, and feel hatred as to the alleged law based lawful framework. Generally, we are urged to acknowledge our disparities and stand together as one, moving toward social change in the courts. At long last, tunes are very fruitful in investigating topics and issues that are pertinent to today’s society, as they give the opportunity to censure or potentially support social change with respect to our qualities, convictions and mentalities. â€Å"Democracy doesn’t rule the world. You’d better get that in your hea

Market Entry Strategies Essay Example Essay Example

Market Entry Strategies Essay Example Paper Market Entry Strategies Essay Introduction Market Entry Strategies Sam C. Okoroafo †Modes of Entering Foreign Markets Okoroafo created an article enumerating a four stage vital model that organizations should consider when choosing methods of entering remote markets. The model comprises of four stages: 1. Decide the plausible methods of activity (MOO) There are numerous methods of activity proposed by a wide range of scientists; be that as it may, â€Å"Some nations may forbid utilization of certain MOOs for reasons identified with accomplishing their financial objectives†. This is upheld by the proposal of hindrances to section or danger of new contestants laid out in Porter’s Five Forces model. This is a factor that ought to be truly considered by any firm creating mixed drinks as there are bound to be enactment against the exchange of such items. In any case, Australia has a respective concurrence with the EU which proposes that bringing wine into the Australian market ought not be upset by any laws or e nactment, for example, charge or rejecting section into the market. 2. Orchestrate methods of activity in a continuum The recognized methods of activity â€Å"need to be organized in a continuum of expanding hazard and commitment† Okoroafo proposes that the firm needs to begin with the method of passage that is the least hazardous and requires the last duty. 3. Pick a method of activity replacement design There are two replacement designs delineated in Okoroafo’s model the gradual methodology or the non steady methodology. The steady methodology â€Å"can be utilized in business sectors where natural factors and host government laws are favourable†. This would be the situation for the European firm. Market Entry Strategies Essay Body Paragraphs The non-gradual methodology is â€Å"when the firm examinations ecological components and it might see inconvenience of commanded countertrade as forbidding it from sending out to that market†. In the event that this was the situation the firm would need to utilize firm explicit elements to choose their method of passage. 4. Pick a method of passage Okoroafo recommended that â€Å"it is important to recognize two sorts of variables† factors which are utilized to assess replacement of all modes â€Å"universal section factors† or factors which impact explicit section modes, for instance â€Å"Export-explicit factors† and â€Å"licensing-explicit factors†. As the European firm needs to import wine all things considered, they should consider authorizing explicit factors in extraordinary detail. Strategies for Entry Exporting could be considered as one of the most effortless strategy for entering the market. The points of interest to the firm of just se nding out their items is that it has moderately low money related hazard and low set up costs, anyway it ought to be considered concerning whether the item would be less expensive to fabricate and appropriate abroad because of the significant expenses of delivery such a substantial item as containers of wine over to Australia from Europe. All things considered, the organization will need to utilize a nearby specialist to sell their item as they will have neighborhood information available and business contacts in Australia. Anyway this could be disadvantageous to the European firm since it is a likelihood that they could lose their image acknowledgment and legitimacy that accompanies European wine. Permitting, diversifying and subcontracting Advantages of authorizing, diversifying and subcontracting are that that it is additionally moderately minimal effort, correspondingly to trading. There is likewise more authority over the activity and appropriation of the item, the firm can cho ose where and how their item will be retailed. In establishments, the franchisee additionally shares the danger of disappointment with the first firm, and they have an immediate enthusiasm into the accomplishment of the brand. This is likewise combined with their nearby information and drive to extend their business. In any case, permitting and diversifying would imply that the European firm has less contact with their customers than they would have on the off chance that they were just trading the items, this likewise implies they lose direct control of activities, for example, quality control and gauges. In spite of the fact that establishments implies that the hazard is shared, it likewise implies that the benefits are shared so the European firm would not see as much profit for their item deals as they would have trusted. Be that as it may, this technique for showcase passage might be considered as the European firm will be new to the Australian market and will require some assi stance in building up their items and brand. Joint endeavors When setting up joint endeavors and partnerships, there is an itemized proper understanding which plots who is engaged with the business, who possesses the advantages, the administration and control of the business, and end of the endeavor. This implies there is shared hazard, shared information and mastery and at last an upper hand if two firms are in organization with one another. Anyway this may imply that the opposition is decreased and in this manner Porter’s National Diamond system that proposes that contention and rivalry fortifies a business’ national bit of leeway is more fragile. Vital Alliances, mergers and Acquisitions A vital partnership is characterized in International business fifth release (Rugman and Collinson) as â€Å"a business relationship in which at least two organizations cooperate to accomplish an aggregate advantage† The advantages of building up a vital collusion for the Eur opean firm would be that they would have the option to procure information on new markets and innovation, grow nearer interfaces with their providers and clients and to decrease the weight of rivaling enormous contenders who are as of now settled in the Australian market. On the off chance that the European firm was to consider a key partnership it is accepted that it would be with another Australian firm, in any case, they could distinguish another European firm who has been fruitful in the Australian market. Both of these choices would have their focal points and burdens, on the off chance that the European firm collaborated with another European firm, at that point they would have the option to consolidate their legitimacy of European wine and utilize that as a one of a kind offering point to the Australians. Be that as it may, if the European firm was to collaborate with an Australian firm they would have the option to study the Australian culture and market requests. Vital Alli ances have been censured by various specialists who propose that most partnerships will in general fall flat or crumble after some time; Ellis, (1996) noticed that 60% of all coalitions inevitably come up short. This is bolstered by examine from Segil (1998), â€Å"the pace of collusion achievement is decreasing. While KPMG (1999) proposed that up to â€Å"83% of mergers and acquisitions were ineffective in creating business advantage for investors. These insights should be deliberately considered before choosing whether or not to build up a key union with another firm. A merger is characterized as â€Å"two associations who consent to consolidate and pool their benefits in another business entity†. Though a securing is characterized as the â€Å"joining of two inconsistent partners† Porter’s Acquisition Strategy (1987) recommends three factors that ought to be considered before setting out on an obtaining. The engaging quality, where in a perfect world firms ought to have better than expected benefits in their industry or industry section. This would make the European firm alluring for a securing as they are a worldwide business offering their items around the globe; accordingly it is expected that they are sensibly fruitful in their nation of origin as of now. The expense of passage is another factor that Porter said firms should consider before leaving on an obtaining. This incorporates the immediate expenses and circuitous costs, for example, the executives time and mix costs. This is probably going to be all the more exorbitant for the European firm as they will unavoidably need to migrate part, if not the sum of their business into another nation. The third factor that ought to be thought about is the upper hand. This considers cooperative energy, where the assets are all the more viably misused by the blended organizations. Despite the fact that there is critical proof to recommend that associations with different firms, for examp le, key partnerships, mergers and acquisitions are probably going to fall flat there are approaches to expand the opportunity of accomplishment, as adjusted from Payne (1987), Shelton (1988) and Sirower (1997). These measures incorporate, assessing the objective firm’s serious position, their way of life for similarity, guarantee secret weapons can be held after the merger, guarantee a practical cost is paid for the target’s stock and plan the post merger process cautiously. These measures are to guarantee that if a merger doesn't succeed, the firm is still liable to be fruitful inside the market, whether or not they are joined forces with another firm. Issues in Cross Border Mergers Issues that must be contemplated before a firm from an alternate district or nation converges with another firm are, the job of the administration, counselors and their costs, national culture and business morals, geology, vital shareholdings, experience and worldwide companies. Obstructio ns to Entry Levy Payments â€Å"Federal enactment requires the installment of tolls by wine makers and exporters to help finance the exercises of the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation and the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation. Exchange understandings â€Å"The Agreement among Australia and the European Community on Trade in Wine marked in Brussels on 1 December 2008 is a proper universal understanding that manages the exchange wine among Australia and the European Community. † â€Å"The extreme multi-horizontal understanding is that including every one of the 148 individuals from the WTO. This association has been extremely powerful in reduc

Health Care Finance Essay - 825 Words

Health Care Finance (Essay Sample) Content: Health Care FinanceNameInstitutionHealth Care FinanceInsurance offers convenient ways of financing healthcare services. Through its principle of pooling risks, insurance allow patients to enjoy costs sharing where one does not have to bear the full amount for health care received (Ulmer et al., 2012). In the U.S, lack of insurance is a major setback for people getting access to quality health care. According to researches, a majority of the U.S population receive less than 60 % of recommended health care, which is attributed to lack of insurance services (Bodenheimer, 2005). This paper seeks to discuss the various sources of health insurance coverage for various groups of people in the state of New York. Seniors age 65 and older: In New York seniors citizen are eligible for various options of health care insurance. These include Medicare by the federal government and the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) program administered by the states Department of Health. EPIC cater for costs of drugs while Medicare cater for other medical care services such as tests and items.Children younger than 18: In New York, children are eligible for Childrens Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) such as Child Health Plus (Ulmer et al., 2012). Medicaid provides access to health care at no cost while Child Health Plus charges low costs health coverage. Both of them cater for routine check-ups, dental care, prescription medications, and immunization among others. Unlike Medicaid, which can be access by poor people, a childs family income is a determinant factor to be eligible for Child Health Plus, which is accessible for only those who can afford it (NY State of Health, 2013).Low-income families with at least one child, whose family income is below 133% of the Federal Poverty Level: Every state in the U.S provides Medicaid to cover for poor families who cannot afford to pay for medical care. Medicaid can be run jointly with CHIP to co ver children of below the age of 18, from poor families (USA.gov, 2014). However, New Yorkers may be forced to co-pay for other medical services that are not fully covered by Medicaid at a maximum cost of $200 co-payment per year (NY State of Health, 2013). The self-employed: In New York, self-employed persons can apply for Medicaid for their health care coverage. Other available option is to seek suitable self-employed health insurance cover from the Marketplace, suiting ones medical needs (NY State of Health, 2013). In some cases, self-employed persons can utilize other options such as spouses insurance, to provide health care coverage for themselves. Employees of large companies (more than 100 employees: Large companies have some planned health care system for their employees. Insurance companies in the Marketplace can facilitate such a job-based health plan, allowing employees to enjoy certain health care coverage that a majority would not have afford were it not for the employm ent. In New York, employed persons are not eligible for Medicaid (USA.gov, 2014). Employers insure their employees not only as requirement by the federal law, but also for maintaining a healthy and satisfied workforce, for efficiency within the organization. Some work-based insurance plans cover employees plus their other direct family members.Employees of small businesses: Small business owners can arrange a Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP), with an insurance company in the Marketplace to provide health coverage for his/her employees (Ulmer et al., 2012). In other cases, depending on the agreement between the employer and the employee, the employee can arrange their own insurance cover. Part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees: In New York, Employment Medical Plans can be arranged to provide health cover for part-time or seasonal employees. In this, the selected insurance company in the Marketplace can cover for specific health care at the time when the employee is working for the company or business (USA.gov, 2014).The unemployed: If a person is unemployed in New York, this makes him/her qualify for two types of health coverage, which are Medicaid and a private health insurance plan, from the Marketplace coverage. For one to qualify for New York Unemployment Insurance benefits, one must have worked in the state for the past 12 to 18 months (NY State of Health, 2013). College students: In New York, college student can benefit from their schools student health plan to cover for their medical expenses (USA.gov, 2014). Others, especially those who can afford it, may seek private student health insurance form the Marketplace. People of age 65 and above applying for Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) contribute to the premiums of their health insurance.
