Human Resource Management of Zappos.com Introduction Human Resource management has a high impact on the overall organization being managed. HR management makes certain that human talent is used successfully and resourcefully to accomplish organizational goals. As an organization core competency, human resources has distinctive competencies that generates high value and sets apart an organization from competitors in areas such as productivity, quality and service, employee skills, and innovative changes. HR management activities can be grouped into categories which include strategic HR management; equal employment opportunity; staffing and talent management; compensation and benefits; and employee and industry relations. Screening Understanding Zappos high regard to corporate culture and customer satisfaction, they take screening for new employees very seriously and have methods to select only those individuals that will promote their corporate philosophies. Even with Amazon.comââ¬â¢s acquisition of the online retailer in 2009, Zappos.com culture and customer loyalty are as strong as ever. Recruiting Looking for candidates that fit with Zappos ideals has its struggles. Christa Foley, the recruiting manager at Zappos.com says their tops three issues with recruiting are how they hire someone with the technical skills that will also fit in their corporate culture; ways to incorporate social media in recruiting; and finding the right technical employees which is actually their biggest challenge (Moran, 2011). Selection All potential candidates will go through at least two interviews; a culture fit interview with the HR department and a technical fit interview with the hiring manager and possibly members of the team they would be working with.
